Welcome to the History of Art!

Exhibited here are seven student-curated collections on "the periods of art history" that are most featured at the National Gallery of Art in DC.

Students were asked to put on their curator hats and to research the NGA and other large institutions to find works of art that may make these periods of art history at the NGA more accessible to the public. In order to gain funds for this new acquisition, the teams were each instructed to choose one work from the NGA to sell (a dangerous practice to be sure).

The following exhibitions contextualize that de-accessioning and acquisition process, and give us insight into how we can make art more accessible to the public.

Enjoy.
